Rioting University Students, A Precipitate for Citizen Revolution
On Wednesday 30th March a group of University of Nairobi students were out venting their anger on innocent City residents. Uhuru highway and other roads leading to the main campus were no go zones for motorists and even pedestrians.............
Tankers transporting oil stood abandoned on the road as their drivers fled, fearing the wrath of the striking students. A brave man trying to ride past the blocked road on motorbike was not spared as the hooligans pushed him off and took of with the bike.
An agitated motorist was also crying foul over the incident, “ I am on my way to Westlands to pick a cheque, I need to deposit it before the banks close, and now these” Unfortunately for the motorist, his car stalled, the little gas in his tank had run out.
The most disheartening scene during the afternoon mayhem was the looting of ice-cream from a push-cart vendor. The horrible sight reminded one of Tunisian Mohammed Bouazizi , who was pushed to the edge by City council hooligans. Nairobi residents have lost their patience with University of Nairobi hooligans, who constantly cause untold suffering and losses to operations within the city.
The educated delinquents should realize that; For Every Action there is a Reaction. Nairobi residents have absorbed enough of their shameful acts and are bound to counter the stupidity.
