In my opinion the promiscuity can be attributed to the current financial independence and changing social attitudes associated with the modern woman. Ever heard about the business travel excuse? Or jobs outside home with the ready made excuse of working late? These and many more reasons have given the women more opportunities to meet other men and engage in illicit affairs without giving their partners any reasons to suspect them.

I have this friend married and have a kid but her baby daddy is not the biological father. She had kept it a secret for the 5 years she was married.... though she was in a stable relationship with her current hubby she was also getting it on with her ex boyfriend from high school. In the process of dating the two men she got pregnant.

 The baby daddy turned out to be the ex who by the way apart from being jobless was staying at his mums. Having realized the mess she was in she choose the husband to be her baby’s daddy despite knowing the real dad.

She told him and being the gentleman he has always been he immediately married her.Everything was going well until last year when her skeleton came out of the closet. The kid got sick and needed blood. However on going to the hospital the dad’s blood did not match the kid’s. Eventually he discovered that the kid was not his. They are now talking divorce.

This sounds like something that can only happen in a soap opera but this is becoming a horrible reality  to some men. Basically, there are some cases in which a man can end up supporting a child that is not biologically his.

 For instance, through adoption or where the wife has a child by another man and the current husband is aware of the child’s paternity. However there is something particularly devastating when a man learns that he has been supporting another man’s child without knowing. You, you know those families where one kid doesn't look anything like anybody else?

When some mothers have an affair, instead of trying to confirm the paternity or just telling the truth, they don’t say anything in hopes that her indiscretion is never exposed. The real father, the foster father, and child are left in the dark. This however does mean that men do not bear children with other women. In fact they do and worse still they abandon them without giving a hoot about how they are brought up especially if the child is a girl.

However for men, most of the times the lie is never exposed and even if the wife knows about it, it remains a secret. After all this can also be a stunt being pulled by the woman claiming the man is the father. That is why some men request for a DNA test to be sure of the paternity before they acknowledge or take responsibilities for a kid especially if they suspect foul play.

That said  and with the current sexual liberties in the Kenyan dating  can a man take a woman’s word that he is the baby daddy to their kids?
