Plastic Surgery in Kenya
Many People have certain body parts that they don't like and have even at one time considered cosmetic surgery to fix it given a chance.Maybe you think your ears are too big, or your nose is too long, you are unhappy with your breasts, or your waist size.As such Many Kenyan women and men in the growing middle class are parting with 150,000 shillings upwards to have some body parts reconstructed.>>>>
Through aesthetic surgery , commonly referred to as cosmetic surgery Kenyans have found a way to allegedly boost their self esteem.
It is arguable that apart from boosting self esteem, the whole surgery thing has westernization written all over. Seems like Kenyans have been watching too much ‘extreme makeover ’ programmes.
There has always been attempts to blend in with the western beauty.
It started slowly by wealthy Kenyans travelling abroad to get procedures and today we have Kenyan surgeons conducting the surgeries.
Word is,currently there are five plastic surgeons now operating in Nairobi . The surgeons registered under the Kenya Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons are now rolling in mad cash.
The most common surgeries involve Breast reductions and lifts which cost at least Sh66000 ($750) to Sh200100 ($2,300) depending on fees and how much fluid is removed.
Second is abdominoplasty, known as a ‘tummy tuck’ which involve the removal of excess fat and skin from the middle and lower abdomen. Liposuction can cost anywhere from Sh87, 0000 ($1,000) to Sh261, 000 ($3,000).
Men are also going in for similar procedures, though male breast reduction is treated as a liposuction.
Though a change is as good as a rest I wouldn't say cosmetic surgery is the best option to change one’s looks.
For those willing to walk down the changeover road, be warned things do not always go according to plan.
In the quest to look attractive you might be buying a ticket to the most ugly person's list.
Therefore it is advisable to try usual weight loss practices such as sticking to the right diet and exercise to avoid the negative effects.
It is debatable that many people who undergo the cosmetic surgery fail to appreciate themselves for who they are or they do it to look attractive to those around them.
But there is one indisputable fact; beauty is determined by how one feel about themselves.
That is why I believe unless involved in an accident one should not change what God gave them.
